Trees Cause Damage. We Handle That Too.

When a tree causes a problem somewhere else on your property, you shouldn't have to call three different companies. Joel's network handles it — concrete, roof, gutters, fences, drainage. One crew, one quote, one cleanup.

Concrete Damage from Roots

Lifted driveways, cracked sidewalks, buckled patios. We grind the offending roots and repair the slab.

Roof Damage from Trees

Branch falls, shingle damage, punctured decking. Tarp first, repair fast — before the next storm.

Gutter Cleaning

If we just trimmed your trees, your gutters are full. Quick add-on while we're already on site — saves you a separate trip.

Fence Repair

Tree fell on your fence? Roots pushing it sideways? We replace posts, sections, or whole runs after tree work.

Drainage Solutions

Removing a big tree exposes drainage issues. We grade the area, install French drains, or fix downspout runoff.

Landscape Restoration

Fresh sod, mulch, replanting, or a full re-design after we remove a tree. Yard looks finished, not torn up.

Foundation Concerns from Roots

Suspicious cracks near a big tree? We assess root encroachment and coordinate foundation work if needed.

Anything Else Tree-Related?

Sewer line root invasion, pool damage from leaves and roots, deck repair under trees — just ask.

Year-Round Tree Care

What Your Trees Need This Season

Trees in the Central Valley deal with everything from 105°F summers to flash storms. Different seasons need different care — here's what to do, and what to avoid.

Spring (March – May)

Wake-up season. Inspect, prune, fertilize, plant.

Do This Now
  • Inspect for winter storm damage and dead wood
  • Prune summer-flowering trees before new growth
  • Fertilize and mulch around the drip line
  • Plant new trees — roots establish before summer heat
  • Treat for early-season pests (aphids, scale)
Avoid
  • Heavy pruning of spring-blooming trees (you'll cut next year's flowers)
  • Over-mulching against the trunk — it causes rot

Summer (June – August)

Survival mode. Water deep. Watch for stress.

Do This Now
  • Deep-water mature trees once a week (slow soak, not sprinklers)
  • Light pruning of dead or hazardous branches only
  • Watch for drought stress — wilting, yellow leaves, early leaf drop
  • Monitor for borers and beetles, especially on stressed trees
  • Refresh mulch to retain moisture
Avoid
  • Major pruning — it stresses the tree during peak heat
  • Shallow daily watering — encourages weak surface roots
  • Fertilizing in extreme heat — pushes growth the tree can't support

Fall (September – November)

The best season for big work. Plant, prune, prep.

Do This Now
  • Plant new trees — fall is the #1 best planting season in the Valley
  • Major pruning after leaves drop (better visibility, less stress)
  • Clean leaves off lawn and out of gutters
  • Mulch heavily before winter to insulate roots
  • Inspect for tree health issues before they hibernate
Avoid
  • Fertilizing late in fall — pushes new growth that won't survive winter
  • Leaving leaf piles against trunks — invites pests and rot

Winter (December – February)

Dormant season. Best time for shaping and removals.

Do This Now
  • Dormant pruning — shape structure while leaves are off
  • Remove hazardous trees — easier access, no nesting birds, lower cost
  • Inspect for wind damage after each storm
  • Spray dormant oil to control overwintering pests
  • Plan next year's tree work before spring rush
Avoid
  • Pruning during a hard freeze — can damage cuts
  • Ignoring small cracks or leans — winter storms expose weak trees

Did You Know?

Trees do more than look pretty. They also create real risks if they're in the wrong place, sick, or unmaintained. Here's what most homeowners don't realize.

Trees Too Close to the House

A tree planted within 20 feet of your foundation can cause real structural problems — and most homeowners never see it coming.

Foundation Damage

Roots from large trees seek moisture under your slab. In clay soils common to the Central Valley, this can cause foundation heaving, cracked walls, and lifted concrete. Rule of thumb: a tree's mature height is the safe distance from the house.

Dead Branches = Hidden Danger

A single dead branch can weigh hundreds of pounds and fall without warning, especially in Central Valley wind storms.

Widow Makers

Arborists call them "widow makers" for a reason. Dead limbs can stay attached for months, then drop on a calm day. If you can see deadwood from the ground, it's time to call. Removal costs a fraction of roof repair.

Roots Wreck Sewer Lines

Tree roots are the #1 cause of sewer line breaks in older Central Valley neighborhoods. Repairs run $3,000–$25,000.

Tap to learn more →

Hidden Plumbing Disaster

Roots find tiny cracks in clay sewer pipes, then grow inside. By the time you notice slow drains, the damage is done. Trees like willow, sycamore, and elm are notorious — keep them well away from sewer laterals.

Palm Trees Need Their Own Care

Palms aren't really trees botanically — they need different pruning, different timing, and the wrong cuts can kill them.

Tap to learn more →

Don't Over-Skin

"Hurricane cuts" (stripping all but the top fronds) stress the palm and slow growth. Best practice: only remove dead or yellow fronds and old fruit stalks. Skinning the trunk should be done carefully and only when needed. We do it right.

Insurance Gotcha

If a tree falls and your insurer determines it was "obviously diseased," they may deny your claim. Documented inspections protect you.

Document Everything

California insurers increasingly cite "negligent maintenance" to deny tree-fall claims. A documented annual assessment from a licensed tree service is cheap insurance — literally. We provide written reports for your records.

Right Tree Saves $1,000s/yr

A well-placed shade tree on the west side of your house can cut summer cooling bills by up to 35% in the Central Valley.

Tap to learn more →

Energy Savings

Strategic shade trees reduce roof temperatures by 20–40°F. In Modesto/Stockton summers that's hundreds of dollars in cooling costs every season — and the tree only gets better with age. We can recommend the right species for your lot.
